It always takes place on Saturday night before Easter Sunday of the Orthodox Easter. Usually it starts at 8pm and most years it ends after midnight. Keep in mind that the Catholic Easter and the Orthodox Easter are not always at the same time! Unfortunately, in 2016 the event didn’t take place due to disagreements in the neighbourghood.

Vrontados is surrounded by the ocean and the mountains. The best spot to watch it is somewhere up in the mountains. Furthermore, you can also see the spectacle very good from the beach and places located at a higher level or distance.
It is certainly not the safest place to be but usually only few accidents happen and there are always medics present.
